Ryne Sandberg’s Chiefs scored six runs (four earned) against Blake Beavan in three innings. Beavan struck out one and walked one. Renny Osuna (.351/.426/.505) went 3-5 with three doubles. Having played ten fewer games than in 2007, Osuna has already surpassed last year’s totals in hits, doubles, triples, homers, and walks. Mitch Moreland (.318/.372/.500) singled and drew three walks plus an HBP. DH Tim Smith hit his 2nd homer and singled.
Pitcher Kennil Gomez was placed on the DL with arm discomfort. Michael Kirkman, who had a 7.43 ERA in 13 innings for Clinton last year, has replaced Gomez.
Beavan is set to start again today. This, of course, was his start from 6/6/08.
