Beavan's game ended up being played on 6/1 instead of 5/31.
He played a good game, and still ended up losing. That happens sometimes, only two runs against him were earned. His control is still amazing (only one walk). He still also issuing ground balls, going 10 grounders to 9 fly balls. I will update this post when more information comes out. Less than two hours to play 9 innings. Now that is amazing...

Low-A: Clinton 1, at Burlington 3
Loss: Beavan (4-2, 2.84)
Blake Beavan took the loss despite seven strong innings. Beavan walked his 2nd batter of the year and only struck out one but allowed just two earned runs (three total) and six hits.
Beavan’s 11% strikeout rate after seven pro starts isn’t worrisome, but it is curious. Perhaps Texas has him on a “pitch to contact” plan right now, but control was never a problem with Beavan. He walked only four in 66 innings (and struck out 124) during his senior season in Irving. Another possibility is concentration on off-speed repertoire, but then I would expect more walks. Other possibilities include “something else” and “no reason at all.”
Engel Beltre doubled but was tagged out reaching for third. Clinton had four other baserunners.
