Game 153: Rangers vs. Tigers

Well, I felt that Tigger and the Detroit Tigers... well, just matched up. It's good to see the Rangers winning the first two of this series. I ended up spending 23 of 52 hours on the road between Sunday at 8 AM to Tuesday Noon. That is 44% of my time spent driving. And I am not used to doing that, just in case you are wondering. Me legs hurt SSSOOO much. And when I got home, I thought I would do a posting, but decided against it, in favor of sleep.

I didn't know you could listen to Brad Sham cover the Cowboys in Missouri. I got to listen to the Cowboys game from Missouri all the way to Oklahoma City, where I stayed the night on Monday.

Hank Blalcock and Gerald Laird cards. Two very fine players. Will they be Rangers next season? Well, it is hard to say. Both have good trade value and could be on the chopping block this off-season. I sure did make Freddy Garcia look like a throwback player from the early parts of the 1900s.

Scouting Report:

Tiggers: Garcia hasn't pitched in the Majors on June 8, 2007, when he was a Phillies starter trying to pitch through discomfort in his right shoulder. An unsuccessful summer of rest and rehab stints led to surgery to repair his labrum and rotator cuff just over a year, and he has spent most of this year working his way back into pitching shape. The Tigers signed him last month in what has essentially been a two-way tryout: Detroit gets to see where he's at in his rehab and gauge whether to try to re-sign him this winter, while Garcia has had the chance to work with the Tigers coaching staff on the finishing touches to his comeback and get an idea about the organization before free agency.

Rangers: In his last three starts, Nippert has taken 163 points off his ERA as he's made his case to continue as a big league starter. His last time out in Oakland, he held the A's to one run on four hits and four walks in five-plus innings and he struck out seven. He shut the A's out over the first five innings, they finally scratched a run off him in the sixth when he couldn't record an out. Nippert will aim to extend his winning streak to three against the Tigers on Wednesday. It will be his first outing against Detroit.

Forecast: Well... I can't give a forecast to a game that happened before the post. I had started this one and then got called away and was unable to post. 17 runs for Detroit. That simply sucks. Maybe with the day off and all, the Rangers can start putting things together. With nine games to go in the season... I don't know if they can push their way up to 500... but then agian... stranger things.
