High-A: Bakersfield 10, at Visalia 5
Win: Beavan (3-4, 5.28)
Win: Beavan (3-4, 5.28)
Blake Beavan’s outing resembled Michael Main’s: not great but ultimately effective. Beavan gave up three runs on seven hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out three. Tim Murphy returned to action as a reliever after a week on the DL. Murphy walked two and allowed two runs on two innings. Pitcher Ryan Tatusko went on the DL in Murphy’s place.
The insanely hot Mauro Gomez (.371/.444/.694 in May) was 4-5 with three doubles and a two-run homer. Gomez led the Clinton Lumberkings with 21 homers in 2007 but slumped to eight while slugging .361 last year in Bakersfield. Jonathan Greene doubled twice and singled.
With a single and triple, Engel Beltre (.238/.283/.343) pushed his hit streak to 11. He also stole his 8th base.
