Boston 6, Los Angeles 3.
The Rangers’ division lead over the Angels is now 7.5 games, nine in the loss column. But that’s not all.
The Angels (52-50) have actually slipped into third place, a hair behind Oakland (50-48), which is also 7.5 games back.
And Dan Haren made his Angels debut tonight in that loss to the Red Sox, getting knocked out in the fifth when he took a Kevin Youkilis line drive off his pitching forearm. Early diagnosis: Just a bruise.
Haren’s next scheduled start is Sunday afternoon, against Cliff Lee, in Anaheim.
Haren’s career against Texas: 3-5, 4.29 in 10 starts.
Lee’s career against Los Angeles: 7-3, 3.07 in 10 starts. As we mentioned when The Trade was made, the Angels are hitting .136 as a team against Lee since 2008.
But first things first. Lee tonight at home, against Oakland lefthander Gio Gonzalez, in what has suddenly become the Rangers’ fifth straight game against the second-place team in the division.
