Chicago Bears (1-0) at Dallas Cowboys (0-1)

All I can say is that I would like both teams to win... and, of course, when I was watching that last three seconds of the fourth quarter, I ended up going through a whole mess of emotions that simply cannot be summed up into words. We went from a win to a loss in a matter of seconds... and it was our own fault, which is like salt in the wound. Salt in a gunshot wound. And the wound is self-inflicted...

So, after one game, the stats look as follows:

What this means is this: Romo is on pace for 4,512 yards (It's possible, and I'll take that), Miles Austin is on pace for 2,336 yards (won't happen), and that the Cowboys have NNNNOOOO rushing game and are trying to trade Choice. Dez Bryant has shown that he has game.

Here are the concerns about the Cowboys:

* 5/13 on third down.

* 12 Penalties for 91 Yards

The 38.5% on third down isn't going to blow teams away and it really won't win you a lot of games. Now, if you are getting 38.5% on third down but averaging two third downs per game, ROCK ON. But with 13 third downs, you gotta convert more than five.

The Cowboys rank second in penalties, with only the Jets being tagged for more (14 for 125 yards). As far as yardage is concerned, there are three teams with more yards penalized (Jets, Bears, Giants). This game could see a LOT of penalties come Sunday. I... can't... wait. There's nothing I love more than litter on the field.

Jay Cutler looked good in that game. He's on pace for close to 6,000 yards, which will not happen. In fact, I honestly expect him to get picked off twice in the game against the Cowboys. Why? I don't know, I just have that weird feeling that it will. I want to say there will be three pickoffs on Cutler Sunday.

Cutler also got sacked four times against the Lions and I don't think the Cowboys will sack Cutler that many, more like two. DeMarcus Ware will be playing, so two seems completely possible. The key to Dallas winning really relies on what happens with containing Matt Forte and making sure Cutler doesn't explode again. Can the 'Boys do it, while Romo stays Romo and plays catch with Austin and Bryant?

Forecast: To answer said question, I think the Cowboys can take care of Forte and Cutler enough. I will even go on to say that Romo will play a good game of catch with Austin, Bryant, and Jason Witten. In fact, if Witten doesn't get more catches Sunday, the Cowboys will be in jeopardy of losing. If Witten grabs six catches, then I think the Cowboys win it hands down. Will Witten catch six? Probably not. Will he catch four? Yes. Is four enough? I think so. Prediction: Cowboys win in a close one and move to 1-1 with a score of 21-17.

Ankle Still an Issue for Favre

Brett Favre said during the ESPY awards show on Wednesday night in Los Angeles that he would "love to play" for the Minnesota Vikings this season but still hasn't decided if he will return because his surgically repaired left ankle continues to give him problems.

"I still have a little bit of time, and believe it or not, (I'm) not completely healthy," Favre said during a backstage interview at the Nokia Theatre that was aired on the ESPN3 website after the show ended. "I guess at 40 I may never be. I'm not getting any younger, but I am working hard trying to feel as best I can. Last year, I felt great. My arm was totally different than it was the year before (in 2008 with the Jets) and that made my decision a little bit easier. But we'll see."

Favre, who was honored with the "Best Play" award for his last-second touchdown pass to Greg Lewis that lifted the Vikings over San Francisco in Week 3 last season, underwent surgery to repair a partially torn biceps in May 2009 and eventually decided to end his retirement and sign a two-year contract with the Vikings. This spring, Favre underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left ankle and has been throwing with receivers at Oak Grove High School in Hattiesburg, Miss., as he tries to decide whether to play a 20th season.

Favre made it clear in his interview that he has the desire to play but wants to make sure physically he feels all right.

"It starts with the ankle," he said. "This coming Friday will be eight weeks (since the surgery), and I had hoped it would be a little bit better at this point. I can walk fine, but you don't walk in football.

"Then it kind of works from there up. If you wake up in the morning and your feet hurt, it kind of makes the rest of your body hurt, and if you've been sacked 700 times, that usually adds to it."

Favre did not mention his future while making two appearances on stage during the program, once to present the Arthur Ashe Courage award and the other time to receive the "Best Play" honor.

In addition to his appearance at the ESPYs, Favre also will be in the spotlight for a wide-ranging interview he did that will appear in the upcoming edition of Men's Journal. Favre talked to the reporter from the magazine in April.

Included was Favre's first in-depth explanation about the interception he threw late in the fourth quarter of the NFC Championship Game in New Orleans. The pass - on which Favre said receiver Sidney Rice didn't do what he expected - ended the Vikings' drive in Saints territory with the score tied. New Orleans won, 31-28, in overtime.

"Playing another year probably isn't going to make a difference (for his body); the damage has already been done," Favre told Stephen Rodrick of Men's Journal.

Giants, Jets sign bid to bring Super Bowl to NJ

Blankets, seat-warmers and earmuffs could compete with hats and T-shirts as must-have Super Bowl souvenirs if the owners of the New York area's two NFL teams woo football's ultimate game to the region in 2014.

"We'll be lucky if it snows," Jets owner Woody Johnson quipped Wednesday at a news conference marking the official signing of the bid package that will be delivered to the league's other 30 owners.

The theme of the new Meadowlands Stadium's bid is "Make Some History," and if the stadium is awarded the game, it will be the first Super Bowl to be played outdoors in a cold-weather locale. Miami and Tampa, which have hosted 14 Super Bowls between them, also are submitting bids. The owners will pick the Super Bowl site at the NFL meetings in Dallas on May 25.

Johnson, stadium chief executive Mark Lamping and New York Giants co-owners Steve Tisch and John Mara extolled the advantages of playing the game in the New York area, but they also acknowledged they will have to get other owners to revise their vision of the Super Bowl as a game that can only be played in bikini weather or in a climate-controlled dome.

"Sports fans aren't easily intimidated by weather," Lamping said on an unseasonably cool, drizzly day at the new stadium. "The game of football was never intended to be played in perfect conditions."

Cowboys' Bryant is Over Interview Controversy

IRVING, Texas - Dallas Cowboys rookie receiver Dez Bryant says he's done talking about being asked by Miami Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland in a pre-draft interview if his mother was ever a prostitute.

After his first workout with the Cowboys during a rookie minicamp Friday, Bryant repeatedly said he didn't want to talk about his interview with Ireland and the controversy that has followed.

"I don't want to talk about it. I just want to talk about the Cowboys and what I'm doing. I put that in the past," Bryant said. "I'm just going to move on, I really don't even want to speak on it anymore. I feel fine, things are great. I'm just looking ahead now."

Game 11: Titans vs. Jets

This is when it is going to happen. The upset of the season. Although, I would have to say that after the Patriots went undefeated through the regular season last year, it just feels anticlimactic that the Titans are undefeated right now... it's really like I am pushing myself to care. Weird. I wonder if I am the only one who feels this way.

we all know that the Titans are not that good. Yes, they are undefeated, but they haven't had any really hard tests on the field. But, on this Sunday, they will face the Jets who are quarterbacked by Farve, and this could be the test I have been looking for. I have already stated in the previous post on the Titans that Farve will win this game for the Jets... but let's take a look at the numbers to see if they are in agreement.

(Once the Titans get beat, I will most likely stop posting their games...)

The Jets are 7-3 and have won their last four games. Tennessee is 10-0. The Game will be played at the Titans casa, and the gametime is noon if you live in the DFW area. I can't see this one not being played on regular television. If it isn't, that would be the dumbest network move in quite a while. The last time these two met, the Jets lost it 10-6. Look for a completely different score in this one.

• LenDale White: 122 carries for 470 yards with 11 TDs.
• Bo Scaife: 44 catches for 450 yards and 2 TDs.
• Justin Gage: 21 catches for 376 yards and 4 TDs.
• Chris Carr: 26 KR for 707 yards, 20 PR for 190 yards, and 1 Int.
• Cortland Finnegan: 49 tackles, one sack, 4 Ints (1 TD), and 15 deflections.
• Chris Hope: 54 tackles, one sack, 4 Ints, and 8 deflections.
• Michael Griffin: 49 tackles, one sack, 4 Ints, and 6 deflections.
• Albert Haynesworth: 39 tackles, 7 sacks.

Those are some very impressive numbers. What is really impressive is how I noticed there wasn't much in the department of turnovers. Kerry Collins doesn't fumble, has only 4 Ints, and the backs don't fumble the ball. Great ball protection leads to wins? It would appear that way.

• Brett Farve: 93 QB Rating; 220-315 (69.8% - WOW) for 2,237 yards, 18 TDs, 12 Ints, with 2 fumbles lost.
• Thomas Jones: 190 carries for 854 yards with 9 TDs and one lost fumble.
• Jerricho Cotchery: 48 catches for 597 yards with 4 TDs and one lost fumble.
• Laveranues Coles: 46 catches for 525 yards with 5 TDs.
• Leon Washington: 30 catches for 226 yards and 2 TDs; 25 KR for 739 yards and 1 TD; 21 PR for 270 yards.
• Shaun Ellis: 31 tackles and 6.5 sacks.
• Dwight Lowery: 52 tackles and 13 deflections.
• Darrelle Revis: 34 tackles, a sack, 4 Ints (one TD), and 10 deflections.

The Jets have returned three interceptions for TDs (Abram Elam and David Barrett are the other two) and there are four players who have four sacks or more. The defense for the Jets is pretty strong and would prove to be a good matchup for the Titans.

Forecast: The Titans' opponents current record is 40-59-1 right now, and when looking at who they have already played, they have two teams who are over 500 right now, being the Colts and Ravens, both are 6-4. They have already played the Bengals, Kansas City and Houston, who are all working toward a #1 pick in the NFL Draft. These Titans just haven't been tested. And this game will show them to be not as good as the numbers show them to be. Jets take this one, 34-24.
