Game 20: Stars vs. Flyers

I'm probably becoming a Stars fan a little late. In fact, I probably have missed the bus that came by years ago. But alas, I am beginning to like some Hockey. The Stars are 6-9-4 (6-13, adjusted) and will be facing a Philadelphia team that is 9-6-4 (9-10, adjusted). The Stars beat the Flyers last year (the last time the two met) 4-1 on December 1st, 2007. I would have to take a gander that will not be the case for this game. The Stars are missing a key player in Brenden Morrow, and without him, the team just isn't going to score as many goals... which they were already having a hard time doing in the first place. Add in the problem that the Stars goalie lets a lot go through, and that simply spells out a Dallas loss.

Stars to Watch:

• Mike Ribeiro: 18 points (-4)
• Brad Richards: 15 points (-3)
• Mike Modano: 13 points (2)
• Loui Eriksson: 13 points (3)
• Marty Turco: 5-8-4 with a 3.49 GAA and a .872 SV%

To be honest, I don't like those numbers. They could be tons better, and should be... but it doesn't even spell out playoffs for me. If this was the NBA, I would be thinking "LOTTERY", but it isn't... so they're thinking great draft picks? Maybe a #1 if they stink it up really good the rest of the way?

Flyers to Watch:

• Simon Gagne: 25 points (11 goals)
• Mike Richards: 21 points
• Jeff Carter: 18 points (14 goals)
• Mike Knuble: 14 points
• Martin Biron: 7-5-2 with a 2.87 GAA and a .904 SV%

These are much better numbers than the Stars. They could take this lot to the playoffs... May not make a lot of noise there, but at least they would get some post-season ice time.

Forecast: Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out this one. Stars take a beating and drop it 5-1 to the Flyers.

Trash to the Philadelphia fans... So here we have the abominable Phanatic. WHAT IS THIS THING?! A GROWTH FROM FRAGGLE ROCK?! And what is it saying about Philadelphia fans? Are they Fat? Green and fat and they wear their cloths backwards. The mascot gets into the Hall of Fame, but do any of their players? How sad... The Phillies have done well in the last 21 years, finishing 1st only once, and another time 2 games back... the rest, sadly, has been 10 or more games behind... twice in that stretch, they won only 65 games. And looking at their logo makes me want to "P"... One World Series Ring in how many years in existence? I think Philadephia has been playing ball since the birth of Christ.

You know, I think I will stop there, because it is obvious, accessible, barefaced, bright, clear, conclusive, conspicuous, discernible, distinct, distinguishable, evident, explicit, exposed, glaring, in evidence, indisputable, lucid, manifest, noticeable, observable, open, outstanding, overt, palpable, patent, perceivable, perceptible, plain, precise, prominent, pronounced, public, recognizable, self-evident, self-explanatory, straightforward, transparent, unconcealed, undeniable, understandable, undisguised, unmistakable, unsubtle, and visible that should this team make it to the playoffs, they don't have staying power and would be knocked out so quick, it would make people's heads spin.

NOW, on to T.O. (TIMEOUT) - which is what happened to him last week. The Eagles are a "good" team on the field, or at least they have been in recent seasons, but this year will be different due to the animosity on the field. T.O. is causing a lot of bad things happen to a good team, which I think is great because the Cowboys will benefit from it. All Good Here! Terrell Owens (or "Country Sausage" as I call him) has too much oppugnancy and that will not only hurt him, but his team. How many games will he miss? Probably a lot... shooting off at the mouth will come back and get you, and for him, it will be now. I think I have an appropriate gift for him though, to help him get back on track... The beautiful dish set would go great with his attitude.

So... the Sixers... does Iverson hang out with T.O.? Just curious...

And the Flyers? What are they... HOCKEY or badmintin? Is that hockey stuff still around... I thought there was a strike or something... It's been years since they played a hockey game, how can we make any calls on that now? Might as well be badminten, I think they've played a game since the NHL did. Pansy sport taking forever to decide what pay they will make - 1 million or 1.2 million... if you really like the sport, like you say you do, then play for peanuts...

So, I guess I will have to suck up my pride and get an Eagles Toilet Lid... just so when I have to look at the Philadelphia sports, I can can run to the bathroom... well, you get the idea... Johnny Out.
