Low-A: at Clinton 11, Burlington 10 (12 innings)
Win: Ueno (4-3, 3.73)
Pinch-running for Miguel Alfonzo (who singled), Engel Beltre advanced to second on a Jose Felix bunt, then scored on a botched pickoff attempt to win the game in the 12th. Clinton had trailed 2-0, 5-3, and 10-9. Mitch Moreland’s solo homer in the bottom of the 8th erased that last deficit. Moreland (.301/.401/.522 since the All-Star break) also doubled twice. Jonathan Greene went 2-6 with a three-run homer (his 20th) in the 6th. Matt Lawson and Miguel Alfonzo each reached safely three times.
Blake Beavan gave up four earned runs in three innings, including two homers, one of which was to Mike Moustakas, who was drafted 15 spots ahead of Beavan last year. Ryan Tuner (4 IP, 2 SO) and Keisuke Ueno (1 IP, 1 SO) shut down the Bees after the 7th.
Beavan had some trouble with fly-ball outs to ground balls... and he ends up with his shortest outing. Interesting. Beavan gave up two HRs - Moustakas (21, 1st inning off Beavan, 1 on, 1 out), Taylor (16, 3rd inning off Beavan, 1 on, 1 out). Clinton still ended up winning.
