Blake Beavan had struck out five batters on four difference occasions. He blew out that previous career-best with nine against the Timber Rattlers on Friday in six shutout innings. Beavan walked one and allowed three singles. In the 40 innings pitched since Independence Day, Beavan has an ERA of 0.90, 26 hits, no homers, nine walks, and 28 strikeouts. He’s good.
Cristian Santana and Matt Lawson hit solo homers, their 11th and 5th, respectively. Engel Beltre singled and doubled. Chris Dennis struck out two in a scoreless 7th and 8th.
Five of the Rangers' six farm clubs racked up double-digit strikeout totals last night, setting 65 hitters down on strikes in 52 innings (with 23 walks). Standing out were Frisco's Neftali Feliz (eight strikeouts in four innings), Bakersfield's Tanner Roark (six strikeouts in three innings of relief), Clinton's Blake Beavan (nine strikeouts in six innings), and the Arizona League's Joseph Wieland (six strikeouts in three innings of relief).
