The Mavericks are trying to move over 500 with this one. And strangely enough, the Mavericks are in pretty good shape. They are just two games back behind the leading Houston Rockets (11-7). They are facing the Clippers, who are 3-13 and second worst in the Western Conference. One of the Clippers wins did come against the Mavericks, which tells me there is no easy win for the Mavericks, even though I think this should be an easy one for them.
Mavs to Watch:
- Dirk Nowitzki: 23.9 PPG; 8.8 RPG
- Josh Howard: 20.3 PPG; 8.2 RPG (should be starting)
- Jason Terry: 20.1 PPG
- Jason Kidd: 10.2 PPG; 7.3 RPG; 8.6 APG
The Mavericks have won six of their last seven and find them once again at 500 and momentum to go even further.
Clippers to Watch:
- Baron Davis: 17.0 PPG; 8.2 APG
- Al Thornton: 16.6 PPG; 5.1 RPG
- Chris Kaman: 13.9 PPG; 9.4 RPG; 1.9 Blks
- Marcus Camby: 10.4 PPG; 10.2 RPG; 2.5 Blks
The Clippers have lost seven out of their last ten, including four of their last five. Two of their most recent games were one point games that they lost (Philadelphia and Denver), and the win on November 29th was a one point win over the Heat. Forecast: I do like the Mavericks in this one, however, I think it will be a close game, much like what the Clippers have been getting used to this season. Look for a margin of victory for the Mavericks to be 5 points or less, with a score of 98-95.
2 Random Thoughts:
Chris Kaman is injured and Marcus Camby is a game-time decision with a sore ankle, so I think Zach Randolph is a Clipper to watch; being that this is going to be his 2nd game for the Clippers after he produced 27 points in his first against Miami.
Thanks Leon, it is so hard to keep on top of all the injuries with the Dallas teams, and then I have to consider who they are playing... it really is mission impossible sometimes. Thanks for the heads up... and Dallas won by a close margin.
